Good Lord It’s Cold…

Saturday, February 25th, 2006

Well, it’s official. The 8th Annual Special Olympics Polar Plunge was held today. I don’t know any of the final counts yet, but Team UPS had 36 participants and about $6300 in donations. Nyki and I would like to thank everyone who donated to the Special Olympics as part of Team Sean. We reached our goal of $600 in the last couple hours before the event. I’ve come to notice that adding an extra $100 to the goal from last year might have been a bit drastic, but I’m thinking of some other ways to bring in donations for next year. Should be interesting. Anyway, we’ve got some pictures that Nyki and I took this year. Mom took some more, so we’ll try to grab those and post all of them in the gallery.

Thanks again to everyone who donated. I’m hoping to get some information about what all happened this year, in terms of participants and total cash. I’ll try to post them here when I get them.

Oh, and for those of you who are curious. The Ohio River was a brisk 41.9 degrees this year. Last year it was 38. Let me tell you that at that temperature, those 4 degrees don’t mean squat.

Special Olympics Polar Plunge

It is T-minus 15 days until Team UPS jumps into the frigid waters of the Ohio River. To date, Team Sean has raised $425 for the Special Olympics. But don’t worry, there’s still time to donate. My goal is $600, and I’m a tad bit short of it. For those of you not in the know, the Special Olympics Polar Plunge is a fundraising event that is held around the nation wherein lunatics jump into freezing bodies of water. We’re jumping into the Ohio River for some odd reason.

If you’re not doing anything on Saturday, February 25, 2006, come on down to the Louisville, KY Waterfront Park. We’ll all be down by Joe’s Crab Shack trying to keep warm before we jump in.

Oh, and if you want to see how much fun we had last year, check out these pics from last year’s go round. I’ll be sure to post the pictures from this year once I get them. However, it took me 11 months to get the “official” ones from last year.
