Polar Plunge 2007 for Special Olympics Kentucky

Monday, December 04th, 2006 10:34am

Well, it’s that time of year again. I’m participating in the Special Olympics Polar Plunge on February 24, 2007 (my birthday). It’s going to be down at Joe’s Crab Shack, just like it has been the last few years. I’ve set my fundraising goal to be $600 for this year again. Donations were slow last year, so I’m hoping people will find a little extra pocket change to throw at it this year. If you want to donate, go here and give what you can. Remember, this is for the Special Olympics and if you donate through the website, I believe that the donation comes out immediately so you can claim it on your 2006 taxes.

Thanks for thinking about helping out, and if you’re interested in participating in the Plunge this year, feel free to give me a call and you can join Team UPS!

Well, it’s official. My favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals have finally won their 10th World Series Championship. Congratulations to the city of St. Louis, Cardinals fans, and especially the players on a hard fought (and sometimes difficult) season. We’re all very proud of you.

Yet Another Reason I’m Going to Hell

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006 9:25pm

I love Fark headlines. This one made me cry. Gotta love it. I even got up off the couch to read it to Nyki, who was getting ready for bed.

So, which one of us is going to Hell first? The one who wrote the headline, or the one who laughed at it. Let me say that the linked article is very sad, and Warner Bros. sucks for reneging on their deal. I’m merely commenting on the headline the submitter picked.

“Studio 60″ - The Most Brilliant Show of the Fall 2006 Season

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006 9:44pm

My TiVo and I interact on a fairly regular basis. I rarely watch any TV when it actually shows. I like adding Season Passes at a whim. Sometimes I find that the shows I add are absolute bombs, and they get promptly removed. “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” will not be one of those.

95 Theses of Geek Activism

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006 11:30am

Being a geek and a flaming liberal myself (not really, but I do lean a tad to the Left), I’m extremely interested in fighting abuses of our Fair Use rights. I was very happy to find this: The 95 Theses of Geek Activism. I’ve perused the list and it’s a pretty good list of social, corporate, and political abuses of Fair Use, as well as just things that every person (not just geeks) should know about their electronic rights. People who aren’t following the different fights might find the list confusing, but feel free to post a comment here or on the site. Someone will help explain them.
